About the Position
This role’s responsibilities include assisting with the coordination of tax filings, tax credits/incentives, and tax analysis throughout the entire organization. This role may also be involved in various other finance related projects.
Functions
- Assist in managing a comprehensive tax credit and incentive program that includes identifying new projects, researching opportunities, gathering information, and preparing applications and reports.
- Support the tax return compliance process including income, sales, fuel, gross receipts, franchise and excise, and property taxes.
- Facilitate and support the timely filing of tax returns.
- Aid in the preparation/review of monthly and year-end income tax provision.
- Assist in tax planning and research projects.
- Assist in responding to tax audits/notices: gathering information, creating schedules/reports, drafting responses, etc.
- Maintain and update tax calendar and support the timely completion of tasks contained in the calendar.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures and effectively communicate opportunities to department leaders.
- Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, analyze the effects of these developments and assist in developing strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.
- Works in a collaborative manner with department leaders in completing projects and analysis and developing recommendations for resolution of problems.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
- Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in corporate accounting or finance required; experience in public accounting, logistics, or retail/service industries preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal and state income and indirect tax concepts and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); Experience with ASC 740 preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (i.e. reporting, modeling, pivot tables, data tables, etc.).
- Experience with Great Plains, databases, and query tools preferred.

Travel Requirements
- This position is expected to travel approximately 25% or less.
