POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tax Administrative Clerk position exists to review, research, process tax refunds, assign work received via email, monitor customer correspondence, prepare certified checks, sort/distribute departmental mail, and support the department in other various ways as needs arise.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Researches tax statements for accuracy.
- Reviews, researches, and processes tax refunds.
- Monitors all emails to assign to appropriate Tax Specialists.
- Prepares certified checks.
- Matches invoices with checks.
- Sorts and distributes departmental mail.
- Exhibits high level of judgment and discretion.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently via phone, email, and person to person.
- Capable of gathering facts accurately, analyzing causes, evaluating alternate solutions, and arriving at sound conclusions on actions to be taken.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience communicating with counties, municipalities, or local governments a plus.
- Knowledge of payment processing systems and prior administrative experience a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a telephone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- 90% communication methods completed over the phone.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.
- Ability to identify and assess account status and determine appropriate process.
- Constantly works in an indoor temperature controlled, sealed window office environment.
