Our story began on January 6, 1964 in Lafayette, California with a small group of young adults, their parents and the founding Director, Helen Young. Fifty-eight (58) years later, Futures continues to serve the same population now, in several counties in California. The Film & Media is a thriving program of Futures-Explored located in three cities: Sacramento, Stockton and Livermore. We are looking for an educator with many unique qualities to lead our participants in a path of world discovery as well as, self-discovery. It is a partnership, you will be the participants’ mentor to help them with self-advocacy, foster person-centered activities as you teach them technical skills within the film/media ventures that would draw out their potentials within this learning environment. Job Duties:
1. Provide instruction and support in one or more film/media related skills, including directing, acting, art department, ADing, editing, writing, documentary, broadcast, live events, camera, lighting, etc.
2. Assists with the film & media studio program to support participants in learning and practicing all of the elements of filmmaking, including pre/post production.
3. Supports educational goals in organization, time management, assignments, and classroom expectations.
4. Supports collaboration with school personnel in adapting to environment, finding accommodations, and utilizing community resources.
5. Supports post‐educational planning, navigating employment resources, exploring vocational interests, and finding career opportunities.
6. Acts as an advocate to promote and protect the rights of participants; ensures individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
7. Assists with communication and accessibility, including the use of assistive technology, communication devices, and adaptive equipment.
8. Assists with researching community activities, events, and destinations, determining accessibility and practicality, planning trips to desired locations, and arranging/accessing transportation, and attends outings with participants.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Authorized to work in U.S.
- One year or more related work experience in the film/media industry at any position and level.
- Possess a valid CA driver’s license, insurable driving record, and evidence of auto insurance and willing to drive the participants.
- Must be experienced in camera, editing and lighting.
- Must have the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes in job assignments.
- Ability to analyze problems, situations, and alternatives to make effective decisions.
- Ability to handle many tasks simultaneously, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills.
- A good team player.
- Proficient with computers and software use, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and G Suite Workplace.
- LiveScan criminal record clearance (or exemption).
- Health Screening and TB Test clearance. Not more than 1 year prior to employment or within 7 days after employment.
- Physical stamina and ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively.
- Open to Covid Safety Protocols: Aligned with CDC protocols, Futures-Explored requires all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and booster, when scheduled. In the event of a legal exemption from vaccination, a reasonable accommodation will be considered.

Great if you have:
- Knowledgeable of Lanterman Act regulations, Regional Center guidelines, and State of California Licensing regulations.
- Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED by a qualified instructor.
