Description of Work Unit
The mission of the Lory Student Center (LSC) is to serve as a student-centered organization at the heart of campus, providing programs and services that create an inclusive community and inspire active, engaged learning. As an auxiliary enterprise within the Division of Student Affairs, the LSC is a comprehensive student union recognized nationally as one of the leading university centers. The LSC annual operating budget is approximately $40 million. Nearly 125 full-time career staff and 650 student and hourly staff serve approximately 24,000 people entering the facility on a daily basis and host approximately 13,000 annual events and meetings. Areas within the Lory Student Center include the CSU Bookstore; Campus Activities; Lory Dining Services; Marketing; Operations; Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement (SLiCE); and an extensive array of business and service partners.

Position Summary

The Environmental Services Team member is a nonstudent-hourly position with a consistent schedule in Operations, within the Lory Student Center (LSC) and the Division of Student Affairs. All
Environmental Services Team members are tasked with providing safe and clean work and learning environment for students, staff, and University guests by responding to the daily cleaning and maintenance of LSC facilities with a focus on sustainability and customer services.

The Environmental Services Team member executes the department’s strategic plans centering on diversity, equity, and inclusion, upholds department values, provides clear communications, and assists with inventory management by exhibiting effective and efficient use of supplies and tools.

Minimum requirements:
  • Some custodial or related experience
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to CSU Principles of Community
  • Perform cleaning while maintaining a safe work and learning environment in the LSC areas including outside of the building, restrooms, and the Ramskeller
  • Greet guests and other users assisting as needed
  • Conduct special projects in an efficient and complete manner as directed
  • Once proficient in performing tasks and utilizing equipment, the position may train other employees
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 months custodial or related experience
  • 6 months experience operating auto scrubbers and extractors
