Job Summary
Provides program assistance and assessment for outcomes and case management services. Supervises Graduate Assistant Case Manager to address their educational, employment and personal needs using assessment, counseling and available resources in order to enhance their personal growth and enhance their performance. To increase success of students and program the program assistant will:
Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:
- Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
- Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
- Assistance with special projects
- Seasonal work
- Emergencies

Essential Functions
- Assist in the recruitment process of AUSPP participants.
- Engage in personal interviews to help identify need and eligibility for a range of services.
- Work with student to determine immediate objectives and long-term goals.
- Help student formulate a development plan using information gathered through formal assessments and in-depth interviews.
- Verify and document that AUSPP students are engaged in all aspects of a custom program to increase skill levels and help achieve self-sufficiency through pre-employment training, any needed remedial skills training, diploma, Adult Basic Education, GED and technical training.
- Works with AUSPP administrative team to coordinates placement and on the job training opportunities.
- Determines and helps student access supportive services based on individual needs.
- Maintains effective case management by submitting required AUSPP contracts, progress notes, updates and all other necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
- Conducts regular one-on-one counseling sessions with AUSPP participants to review goals, address problems and ensure progress is being made.
- Conduct one-on-one career assistance by assuring participants have successfully engaged in AUSPP provided workshops to enhance employability skills, global and cross-cultural communication, personal awareness, motivation and self-esteem, goal setting, resume development, interview techniques and other activities as necessary.
- Conducts post assessment including follow-up services for 12 months after student completes program
- Proactively maintains linkages with area partner school districts, human service agencies, medical and or mental health providers and facilities, juvenile justice department and employers.
- Supports partnerships and communication with employers to stay abreast of career requirements, helping AUSPP participants integrate smoothly into the labor market.
- Works with students to determine immediate objectives and long-term goals
- Makes multiple/weekly trips to Bullock and Macon Counties to meet with participants and assess progress in respective programs
- Assist staff in designing individual follow-up plans for each student completing the program and transitioning to employment or those needing further assistance
- Assists in providing case management services.
- This position serves as the Auburn University Center for Educational Outreach & Engagement (CEOE) representative for the WIOA grant supplemental program in Bullock and Macon counties. Travel is required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Great communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, ability to travel multiple times per week to Bullock and Macon Counties and/or other sites.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field (human sciences or healthcare) with 5+ years’ experience coordinating federal or state grant supported services in a higher education environment for K-12 youth (e.g., GEAR UP, TRIO or Upward Bound). Experience coordinating programs for underserved youth including coordination with school districts. Proven written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on communication with community organizations, partners, parents and guardians.
