Summary: The person in this leadership role will design and direct the site Learning Management System (LMS) to improve individual and organizational performance. This role requires a person who can enroll people in the strategic vision of a formalized LMS while working with groups or individuals at the tactical level to support and encourage their participation in the LMS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)
  • Partner with internal key stakeholders to define their roles & responsibilities in the Cote Blanche Learning Management System.
  • Develop and implement a formal process to assess competency-based and knowledge-based skills needed for all job functions at the mine with the participation of stakeholders.
  • Organize, develop, or source training programs to meet specific development needs.
  • Facilitate the development of competency-based and knowledge-based development programs utilizing a variety of methods including classroom instruction, computer-based training, and on the job training, and job-shadowing.
  • Assist with the development of training aids such as manuals, handbooks, and hands-on models.
  • Map out training plans for departments, job functions, and individual employees, as necessary.
  • Facilitate the development of training programs using recognized training techniques and tools.
  • Design and apply assessment tools to measure the effectiveness trainers and LMS programs.
  • Track and report on training outcomes.
  • Maintain employee training records.
  • Handle logistics for training activities including venues and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external training suppliers.
  • Manage training budget.
  • Manage and maintain in house training facilities and equipment.
  • Liaise with subject matter experts regarding instructional design.
  • Stay current on training design and methodologies.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience and 4 – 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • 3-5 years in underground mining operations or willingness to participate in MSHA mandated new miner training.
  • 5+ years of experience with instruction & training
  • Knowledge of learning management systems instructional design training methodologies, and competency assessments.
  • Experience with heavy mobile equipment, milling crushing and screening operations, and electrical systems.
  • Competent Windows based computer skills, spreadsheet skills required!
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement methods (Lean/Six Sigma).

Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this job include spending time in the underground mine to learning mining processes and getting to know personnel in their working environment, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing towers and stairways, and driving personnel carriers.
