General Information:
Job title: Triage RN
Schedule: Part-time 1, 48 hours per pay period; Monday-Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm (shifts vary)
Weekend rotation: No weekends
Holiday rotation: No holidays
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Patient Care Staff (PCS) Director, the triage nurse will handle telephone inquiries from patients who are seeking medical information and/or medical attention regarding their medical condition. The triage nurse will be able to answer questions, schedule appointments as the patient's condition requires and provide limited health education as per established protocols, policies, the Nurse Practice Act and other guidelines as applicable. Will provide necessary testing for Pre-Op, Ob and PFT patients, and any other identified procedure in the future.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and community health care providers while handling incoming telephone calls.
Screens and responds to patient phone calls, directing to Primary Care or Specialty provider as needed.
Working knowledge of triage intake.
Furnishes medical advice per approved triage protocols and algorithms.
Schedules urgent appointments, based on necessity and acuity, by offering the earliest appointment available with each provider schedule.
Enters necessary information into EMR and other systems as required.
Accurately documents each telephone encounter with the patient in the EMR for continuity of care.
Monitors task documentation to ensure completion within organizational standards.
Maintain patient confidentiality through adherence to HIPPA.
Provides testing for Pre-Op, OB, and PFT patients as necessary.
Adheres to all regulatory/safety policies and requirements.
Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Associate Degree in Nursing or BSN
Required Licenses
Registered Nurse
Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the state.
Required Skills
Current CPR certification or eligible to recertify
Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
Basic computer skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize
Ability to work independently with minimal physician supervision
Exceptional organizational skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to perform basic diagnostic tests
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Administer immunizations and injections
Comply with State, Federal, TJC and Rural Health regulations
Minimum Work Experience
2-3 years experience with Direct Patient care
