Job Summary
The Director Upward Bound is responsible for the overall design, management, planning, and coordination of the federally funded TRIO program. The program may consist of varies geographic locations through the State of Georgia. The Director will facilitate the development of activities and programs designed to encourage underrepresented populations to overcome barriers to postsecondary
education.
Responsibilities
1 - 100
Provides supervision to all staff in the department.
Manages the budget and ensures that it is implemented correctly.
Writes grants.
Evaluates program staff and objectives.
Acts as a liaison to target school administrators.
Coordinates student recruitment.
Oversees all student activities.
Plans and designs curriculum.
Coordinates the use of facilities.
Selects and hires full time staff.
Administers the summer food service grant.
Coordinates student transportation.
Provides an annual performance report to the Department of Education.
Oversees planning of all cultural activities.
Designs promotional literature for programs.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree in Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education Administration, Business Technology, or a related field.
Required Experience
Three years experience in designing, managing, or implementing similar programs.
Experience in supervision and evaluating staff.
Knowledge of higher education admissions and financial aid policies.
Excellent communication skills and knowledge of current computer technology.
Experience with developing and managing budget.
Preference given to candidateswho have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those of the residents in the target area and/or TRIO experience,

SKILLS
Strong oral and written communication and listening skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
Requires the ability to prepare and/or process purchase orders.
Requires the ability to be accountable for inventory/property management.
Requires the ability to manage or administer grant funds.
Requires the ability to make recommendations that impact the budget.
Requires the ability to manage the budget within assigned unit/division.
Requires the ability to manage the budget within assigned department.
Requires the ability to use computers for word processing and/or accounting purposes.
