Truck Driver - CDL:
Business: American Materials Company | East Region | Trucking Division
Mt. Croghan, SC | Reports to: Operations Manager | Classification: F/T Non-Exempt


Position Overview:
Summit Materials is looking for entry-level and experienced drivers to support our day-to-day operations. Our drivers are one of our most critical roles, with a primary function based around safety, delivery of products and materials to customers’ plants and work sites. Position Responsibilities & Performance Objectives:
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Maintaining and ensuring a safe work environment.
    • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
    • Obey applicable laws, following dispatch instructions.
    • Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs.
    • Load and unload materials as dispatched.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly condition of trucks and equipment.
    • Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
    • Perform general labor duties when necessary; and other duties as assigned.
    • Strict adherence to company Safety Practices & Procedures, as well as general policies and procedures as outlined in both the safety handbook and employee handbook.
Physical Demands:
    • Ability to gain, uphold and maintain DOT requirements to include Medical Clearance.

Skills & Experience:
    • Minimum of 1-year driving experience Class A or B – CDL preferred, but not required.
    • Company acceptable driving record.
    • Pass and maintain DOT employment drug screen and criminal background check.
    • Dump Trailer experience, a plus.
    • Manual endorsement and/or experience preferred.
    • Willingness and ability to work overtime, including nights and weekends when necessary.
    • Willingness and ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas of operations based on OSHA and/or MSHA guidelines.
    • Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
Applicants must be 21 years of age to drive a commercial vehicle and 20 years of age for all other vehicles ; valid driver's license and company approved driving record is required if authorized to drive either a company or personal vehicle for business purposes.
