POSITION SUMMARY

The Tutor reports to the Youth Program Coordinator and schedules and provides students with academic assistance to meet their educational goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist elementary, middle and/or high school students in academic achievement by providing homework tutoring in order to supplement subject matter understanding and study habits.
• Offer hands on educational concept activities as appropriate to convey specific educational principles.
• Provide diversified, guided activities that supplement learning goals for students as needed.
• Work together with other staff to lead small group discussions and workshops on selected topics germane to their educational goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience:

• Current college student required with a college graduate preferred.
• Experience in working or volunteering with youth a plus.

Skills/Knowledge:

• Fluency in spoken and written English required with a Mandarin/simplified Chinese preferred.
• Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Office and online web search.
• Good communication skills with youth and parents required.
• Basic end-user level understanding and experience with Salesforce is a plus.

Physical Demands:

• Mainly work in classroom involving prolonged periods of sitting, walking and standing.

Environment and Scheduling:

• Work is performed during Agency business hours.
• Must be flexible and available to work alternate hours when necessary.
• Work is performed mainly indoors but occasionally out for field trips or meetings.
