Summary:

Responsible for the safety and well-being of students, school facilities and maintenance of positive relationships with all Crew and scholars.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise and monitor the interior and exterior of the UPSM High School before and after school to ensure the safety and welfare of students and to ensure the security of school facilities and assets.
• Ensure that students not involved in after school activities are under the direct supervision of school staff and leave the building no later than 4 p.m. This may involve verbally directing students, contacting family members to pick students up, and/or contacting the Detroit Police Department to intercede with students up if family members cannot be located or are non-responsive.
• Implement school dismissal procedures provided by the School Director or their designee.
• Communicate with identified school leader(s) to ensure they are aware of chronic problems so they may address them with students/families.
• Interact with students, families and school staff in a respectful manner.
• Electronically maintain accurate and complete records pertaining to late pick-ups, attempts to communicate with families and any contact with outside agencies.
• Assist school leadership, other crew, and law enforcement when requested.
• Attend training sessions as needed to successfully perform functions of this job.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate Degree or higher preferred
• Demonstrated experience working with students
• Prior experience working in a school or other setting interacting with high school age children.
