JOB SUMMARY
The Van Driver/Custodian is responsible for transporting customers in the Monroe County Employment and Training Department (MCETD) PATH program to and from work locations, to Michigan Works! offices, and to PATH program-related activities. PATH is Partnership. Accountability. Training. Hope., a program that helps job seekers overcome barriers to secure and retain employment.
Pay Range: $17 - $20 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the transportation by van of PATH customers for the purpose of eliminating barriers to job search activities and transportation to work. This includes transporting customers children to their childcare sites in route to the workplace or PATH activity.
- Responsible for driving PATH customers and staff on work related field trips and special events.
- Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of van consistent with schedules as specified by manufacturer warranty.
- Records log of trips/miles traveled and behavior of passengers.
- Will perform light daily custodial duties as scheduled on down times between driving trips which will be assigned by the PATH Coordinator as needed.
- Available for special projects, at peak times, in the PATH office, including assisting the Data and Tracking Technician with shredding of paper, emptying files, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
All SEMCA team members are expected to be technically competent and committed to continuous development of their skills. The following skills, knowledge and education or certifications are specifically required for this position:
- High school diploma or GED
- Current State of Michigan drivers license and chauffeur license
- Excellent driving record, with no felony violations
- Good map reading skills
- Good interactive communication and customer service skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. SEMCA will make necessary accommodations to comply with the ADA regulations.
