The Vice President of Ecosystems – Southwest will be responsible for the operational performance of the Southwest Ecosystems of Thrive Pet Healthcare hospitals and must be permanently based in Denver, CO or the states of Arizona, Utah, or Idaho.

As a Thrive Pet Healthcare leadership team member, you will help deliver and support strategic initiatives aimed at growing clinic revenue and improving client and team member experience.

This role will lead initiatives to foster alignment and collaboration across all the veterinary hospitals across all four Thrive regions. Regions are made up of multiple ecosystems, many of which include varying practice types; general practice, acute care, multispecialty/specialty, and boutique specialty (e.g., Eye Care for Animals, Dermatology4Animals). The VP of Ecosystems – Southwest will directly manage the Regional Support Team members in their region including the Director of Ecosystems, Integration Manager(s) and more, and collaborate with the Support Team department teams regularly. This role requires frequent and consistent visits to hospital sites within California and Hawaii.

The job responsibilities of a Vice President of Ecosystems – Southwest can be grouped into four categories and their principal accountabilities; inclusive but not limited to the below:

1. People, Team, and Hospital Culture:

  • Build relationships with all members of the regional support team and local hospital leadership to promote and support a positive team culture
  • Perform annual reviews of direct reports: including goal setting
  • Mentor, coach, and establish expectations with the regional support team members
  • Collaborate with People Operations to align strategy in recruiting, retention, learning, and change management (and all human resource-related aspects)
  • Execute team-focused hospital visits that allow staff members to share feedback and concerns
  • Active participation and collaboration in all Thrive initiatives

2. Experience Management (Client Experience, Marketing & Client Relations):

The Client and Patient Experience
  • Support engagement with hospital teams to gain a strong knowledge of the local markets in the region
  • Support promotion of the Thrive membership plan(s) within the ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to align strategy in client acquisition and retention (and all marketing-related aspects)

The Hospital Experience
  • Create a positive experience throughout all client and patient touchpoints throughout the region

3. Fiscal Management:

  • Define for and collaborate with regional support team members local to develop and maintain financial growth strategies and budgets for all hospitals within the region
  • Continuously monitor and ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are within benchmarks and/or strategize upon improvement plans
  • Support Thrive to drive financial health and sustainability
  • Compile and provide comprehensive financial reporting to Thrive executive leadership monthly. Reporting should include knowledge of the state of the business in their region as well as plans to address any issues or concerns.
4. Operational Excellence:

  • Develop, support, and maintain the regional and hospital strategic planning efforts
  • Advocate and support medical excellence focusing on key doctor metrics and engage the regional support team to review the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the administrative, technical, and medical staff
  • Reinforce importance of hospitals’ compliance with all (support office, local, and federal) policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Partner with Medical Excellence Team and the RST (Regional Support Team) to maintain a strong oversight of all hospital’s medical operations indirectly and business operations directly through the Practice Managers
  • Direct and participate in acquisition and growth to support overall business objectives and plans on a limited basis
  • Responsible for hospital revenue growth and achieving margin goals through regular evaluation of service and product fees

  • Skills in accomplishing tasks in a timely manner through formal and informal direction

Education and Experience:

  • DVM or bachelor’s degree in business, operations management (or equivalent); Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years' leadership experience in a rapidly growing, multi-site business
  • Background in multi-site veterinary health field and management preferred with direct P&L oversight responsibility
  • Passion for pets and their health and well-being
