Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the day to day operations of the Volunteer Department, providing trained volunteers to assist in general tasks or to complete special projects through the Medical Center. Responsibilities include but are not limited to recruiting, interviewing, orienting, assigning and retaining volunteers. Liaison with all departments anticipating and fulfilling their requests for volunteers. Ensuring volunteer compliance and providing recognition for their time. Provides Information Desk coverage ensuring excellent customer service and accurate information. Overall department responsibilities include statistics, database maintenance, office management as well as hospital compliance for staff and volunteers. As a Volunteer Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health, you will:
- Recruits, interviews, orientates, assigns, and retains volunteers.
- Performs and ensures annual or necessary volunteer performance evaluations are completed.
- Ensures annual required compliance.
- Coordinates and maintains annual recognition events.
- Communicates and meets departmental requests for volunteers.
- Expedites priority - special requests for volunteers.
- Office volunteer coverage including processing of all paperwork.
- Maintains customer service and community relations.
- Ensures maintenance & repair of the office environment.
- Ensures involvement in all appropriate hospital / organizational initiatives.
- Maintains volunteer records and runs reports
- Collaborates with marketing and communication to inform the community of HMH volunteer programs
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to the standards identified in the organizational / Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Associates Degree or higher.
- Experience in healthcare setting or closely related field.
- Excellent customer service and mediation skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for problem solving and process improvement.
- Proven competence in google platform.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience working with volunteers.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
- Volunteer Certification through Beryl Institute or equivalent.
