Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has maintained outstanding growth and is hiring warehouse associates to continue that forward momentum. The warehouse worker at Cooper Tire operates a forklift, handheld mobile computer and / or performs general labor in the warehouse that includes warehousing pallets of tires, order picking (including the manual movement of tires from one pallet to another) and tailgating loaders.
Job specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- 12 hour shifts, must be able to work a day crew or a night crew on a 2-2-3 continuous operation work schedule. This scheduling allows for some natural overtime and gives you a three-day weekend every other week. Pay is $16.00 per hour.• Driving a sit-down forklift most of the time during your 12 hour shift and may also include continuous standing or walking
- Lifting / carrying tires weighing 50-75 pounds repeatedly over a 12 hour work period
- Lifting / carrying and safely exchanging propane tanks weighing 60 pounds
- Operating a pallet jack, order picker and/or handheld mobile computer
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The job is within a non-climate controlled warehouse environment where you will be exposed to temperature swings (hot/cold), forklift and pedestrian traffic, dust, fumes and noise. Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures / guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes safety wear such as hearing protection and steel-toed shoes. Punctuality and attendance are extremely important to the success of the operations in general as well as contributing to an overall positive team atmosphere. This position is located at our Texarkana Distribution Center in Texarkana, AR.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, G.E.D. or the Workforce Center’s Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) with a minimum of Silver Certificate level
- 18 years or older
- At least 1 year of continuous employment (preferably in the industrial, construction, and/or military environment)
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift driving experience (for example, performing basic operations such as driving forwards, driving backwards, lifting and lowering boom, or maneuvering in tight areas without damaging product, etc.)
- Working with high-speed production machinery
- Troubleshooting basic mechanical systems (making minor repairs using simple hand tools)
- Preparing documentation (detailing work and process flows)
- Reading and using standards of operations (for example, understanding and using processes, procedures, or workflow documentation)
