The Eugene Water & Electric Board is currently seeking a Water Distribution Operations Supervisor. This position is responsible for managing, directing, planning and organizing all general maintenance and upgrades of water system facilities, including pump stations, reservoirs, flow meters, water quality instrumentation, valves, hydrants, and various water infrastructure. The successful candidate will also provide guidance and direction for the ongoing installation, operation, and maintenance of water telemetry and control systems while serving as a member of the Water Operations Management Team and supervising a team of approximately 9 direct reports.

It has never been a more exciting time to work for EWEB’s Water Division which consists of an 80 million gallon per day water treatment plant, 800 miles of distribution pipe, 28 pump stations, 21 reservoirs, and numerous pressure zones serving almost 200,000 customers through both wholesale contracts and retail.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of and direct experience in:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering plans.
  • Managing resources and budgets
  • Large scale construction projects and associated support and resource requirements.
  • Regional, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to municipal water systems (OHA, EPA, DEQ, OWRD, NELAC, etc.).
  • Creating and managing contracts and inter-governmental agreements desirable.

The starting annual salary for this position is $105,775 – 141,034, commensurate with knowledge, skills, education, and experience as it relates to the position.

This position is based in Eugene, Oregon and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement involving a combination of telecommuting and working in-office based on agreement between the hiring manager and the successful candidate.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum Experience: Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in the following: construction and maintenance of utility infrastructure, budgeting and reporting and project management. Experience must also include four years of direct supervision in a multifunctional work environment OR an equivalent combination of professional, senior, lead, or project management experience may satisfy the supervision requirement.

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a directly related technical field or an equivalent combination of education plus additional job-related experience may be qualifying.

Professional license or registration: As a minimum, candidates must have a State of Oregon, Oregon Health Authority, Water Distribution Level III Certification, or a confirmed equivalent from another State that will receive reciprocity in the State of Oregon. The selected candidate must also have the ability to obtain WD IV certification within one year of employment. Upon receiving the level four certification, responsibilities will include acting as Water Distribution System Direct Responsible Charge Operator.

Physical activities (with or without accommodation): Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Work Schedule: 8 or 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or alternative work schedules as required. Shift: Monday-Friday or Monday-Thursday, Days, Other: After-hours emergencies and on-call responsibilities. Supervisor on Call (SOC) during nonstandard work hours. Must be available to respond to a call within 40 minutes of notification while assigned to SOC status. Additional hours as required.
