The Upper Ohio Valley Sexual Assault Help Center (SAHC) believes that the crimes of sexual assault and sexual abuse are a public policy issue, touching all aspects of a victim's life, the lives of her/his family members, and the community-at-large. It is the commitment of the Sexual Assault Help Center to provide support and community education in order to empower the victim/survivor to achieve a healthy resolution and to decrease these crimes.

SAHC Services Provided:

· Child/Adult Primary victim services

· Child/Adult Secondary victim services

· Individual and Group Supportive Counseling

· Advocacy and Support Services

· Information and Referral Services

· Community Education and Awareness

o Self-Defense Classes, Prevention Education, Survivor Art Show

· Medical, Legal, and/or Court Accompaniments

· Case Consultation and Case Management

· 24 Hour Crisis Hotline and Response

· Volunteer Opportunities

All services are provided free of charge and are confidential

SAHC Service Area:

SAHC has no geographical boundaries and provides services to any victim in need of service. Primary service areas include Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, and Wetzel Counties in West Virginia.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Wetzel County Advocate/Prevention Specialist will be responsible for maintaining ongoing program development including community education programs, supportive counseling, client accompaniments, crisis intervention, and program affiliations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Coordinates and conducts community education programs and prevention strategies.

· Adheres to the activity schedule designed to enhance program growth and community support.

· Maintains monthly and annual program statistics.

· Works in collaboration with the Executive Director to maintain and adhere to current and appropriate program policies.

· Works in collaboration with the Executive Director, SAHC office staff, and SAHC Board to promote continued development.

· Maintains and updates appropriate records for community education and victim services.

· Attends conferences and educational sessions as appropriate to the job. This can be at the request of the Executive Director, Board of Directors, grant monitor, or staff.

· Maintains client and agency confidentiality at all times.

· Network with area professionals to increase awareness and to enhance services available to victims.

· Attends meetings and serves on committees regarding sexual assault issues.

· Provides crisis intervention and supportive counseling to victims/survivors of sexual assault and their families. Makes appropriate referrals.

· Provides accompaniment services as requested by victim/survivors.

· Assists with victim compensation forms, when necessary.

· Reports to appropriate entities when child sexual assault/abuse is disclosed or suspected.

· Assists with support groups for survivors of sexual violence.

· Required to be on an on-call rotation.

· Reports work-related information and submits required monthly reports to the SAHC Executive Director in a timely manner.

· Additional duties that may be assigned if deemed necessary by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, education, communication, or a related field preferred.

· Minimum of one year work-related experience preferred.

· Must have excellent written/verbal communication skills and public speaking skills (will have a demonstration of public speaking skills during hiring process).

· Highly motivated and self-starter.

· Requires the empathy and ability to work with victims of sexual assault/abuse and their families.

· Requires well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others as a team and individually.

· Must have program development skills.

· Requires flexibility of hours (evenings and weekends may be required, at times).

· Must be self-disciplined and capable of working independently.

· Requires a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and dependable transportation.

· Must pass a criminal background investigation.

SPECIFICATIONS:

· Reports to the SAHC Executive Director and to the Board of Directors

· Fulltime/40 hours per week

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
