Job Description
Interviews clients and determines eligibility for program benefits according to categorical, residence, and income criteria; enters client information into the computer and prints out results to be filed in client’s chart; issues food instruments according to diet prescription, obtains necessary signatures, and files duplicate copy in an orderly manner; schedules appointments, answers telephone in a polite professional manner and processes calls efficiently; maintains files and pulls client charts for clinics, screens immunization records, obtains 24-hour diet recall, weighs and measures participants and plots on growth grids, and obtains hematocrit/hemoglobin. In addition, this position backs up computer files on a daily basis, runs daily, weekly, and monthly reports, mails out missed staff meetings and required training.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to type at a rate of 30 wpm.
- Ability to work with the public in a high volume manner.
- Skill in dealing with contentious clients.
- Skill in using a personal computer, calculator, copier, VCR, television, camera, film projector, centrifuge and a multi-line telephone system.
Licenses/Certification
Required Qualifications
- Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent; prefer some college courses
- Minimum of one year of clerical experience preferred
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- Bilingual in Spanish or languages of Amarillo’s refuge population preferred
