JOB PURPOSE:
Administer the Worker’s Compensation program at Piedmont Healthcare. Implement a case management plan with ongoing monitoring to ensure quality and appropriate service delivery of the case management process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Review and analysis of incident reports.
2. Coordinate appropriate medical treatment for injuries consistent with workers’ compensation law.
3. Monitor medical treatment to include confirmation of employee compliance with medical treatment, obtaining medical reports, and authorizing all required treatment and referrals.
4. Monitor work status and organize return to work, with emphasis on more complex lost time claims.
5. Communicate with medical providers regarding employee’s ability to return to work.
6. Collaborate with Directors/Managers/Supervisors concerning employee’s medical status and return to work.
7. Provide claim status updates to excess carriers and PHC leadership.
8. Serve as liaison with defense counsel in developing strategy and obtaining needed information in defense of Workers Compensation claims.
9. Represent PHC in all settlement negotiations/mediations.
10. Represent PHC in all Workers Compensation litigation.
11. Manage assigned claims to conclusion.
12. Train and provide guidance to PHC Workers Compensation staff.
13. Provide additional support to Workers’ Compensation Manager as requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with an ability to make immediate decisions for effective conflict resolution
Excellent computers skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to handle multiple task and prioritize in stressful situations
Excellent judgment, problem solving, analytical and interpretive skills
Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain confidentiality

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare related field required

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Five (5) years of worker’s compensation experience
  • Knowledge of workers compensation laws and regulations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CCM or WCCM certification or equivalent preferred. Clinical hospital based experience preferred.
