Job description

US Logistics Solutions is looking for a capable and dedicated individual to work as a Yard Spotter with a Class A Driver's License. The Yard Spotter should be able to comfortably operate a semi-truck with a trailer and/or yard tractors/mules, to move trailers in and out of dock doors or around the truck yard. The candidate must be able to back trailers up to dock doors, often with other trailers on either side of the dock. In addition, he/she may have to use other warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks, manual jacks, and forklifts. The Yard Spotter should also know how to perform pre-and post-trip inspections on tractors and trailers.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

• Responsible for the movement and spotting of trailers to facilitate the needs of the warehouse in sorting and processing material for shipment or storage
• Responsible for timely movements and knowledge of on-hand inventory
• Responsible to maintain a neat and orderly storage lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency in servicing the facility’s needs
• Operate yard truck in a safe manner
• Drive and operate a vehicle under 15 mph in and around the facility
• Conduct pre-trips on trailers before placing them indoors
• Must function and interact on a daily basis with facility personnel and comply with facility safety requirements
• Communicate using a cellular telephone or 2-way radio with dispatch
• Security of valuable commodities and the storage area itself is a major area of concern for the yard switcher, occasionally requiring guidance from supervisory personnel regarding
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• Safe truck and trailer operating skills are required
• Experience with backing 53-foot trailers
• A current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred, however, the verifiable experience will be considered.
