SUMMARY:

Plan, implement, promote and evaluate an array of services designed to meet the needs of school aged youth, Grades K-12. Oversee all youth program services including curriculum development and implementation, outreach, service delivery, and compliance with all rules, regulations, and protocols as required by funding sources. This involves out-of-school time programming serving students with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD). OST is any time serving youth when school is not in session e.g. afterschool, summer. During program time, Site Director is expected to lead activities with youth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Development Functions:

Develop and implement academic enrichment activities with a focus on reading/ELA and math and positive youth development activities to help students improve social and emotional competency and career and college readiness (Grades 6 to 12).

Plan, promote and/or implement activities that help parents demonstrate active involvement in their student’s academic and socio-emotional success.

Coordinate and monitor community organizations, educational institutions, individuals, artists, recreational organizations, etc. which offer learning opportunities for program participants including speakers, workshops, field trips and activities.

Coordinate weekly/monthly schedule with other community-based organizations who are providing afterschool activities at the school.

Develop and implement curriculum, daily/weekly schedules, and lesson plans, designed specifically to engage students in Grades K-12. This schedule will include sessions offered by community-based organizations (specialized providers).

Establish and maintain communication with the school’s principal, teachers and building support staff in order to incorporate their identified priorities and needs into programming for students.

Conduct outreach at the school to recruit students.

Promote and stimulate program participation to ensure program goals are attained.

Create and maintain an annual calendar of activities, community events, field trips, family nights, and themes/topics for programming with students.

In collaboration with Site Director(s) from other program sites, develop and implement activities involving youth from various locations.

Represent NCA with all potential and current clients as well as public and private agencies and organizations involved with youth in Grades K-12.

Assist in the preparation of program proposals, as necessary.

Program Coordination Functions:

Provide day-to-day services for students in Grades K-12 at the school and at other program sites in order to achieve contracted goals.

Plan, schedule and oversee all program activities including academic enrichment, positive youth development, career and college readiness, family engagement, speakers, field trips, and service learning.

Establish and maintain positive and constructive rapport with parents/guardians of youth enrolled in program.

Conduct educational assessments with all youth participants to identify educational needs; collaborate with parents, and school as necessary to address educational needs and promote academic success.

Conduct social/emotional assessments of all youth participants to identify areas of growth; collaborate with parents, school and students as necessary to encourage the ongoing development of social/emotional capacities.

Plan and coordinate snacks and/or meals provided for students in the program.

Oversee the scheduling and coordination of transportation for youth, as needed for field trips, community service projects, etc.

Prepare reports as required by funding sources and NCA.

Administrative Functions:

Ensure that all program services are provided in accordance with established NCA and CMSD policies and procedures.

Supervise Youth Program Associates and/or AmeriCorps Members to ensure that the appropriate staff to student ratio is maintained at all times. Supervise volunteers.

Collect and enter program data as required by various funding sources, adhering to reporting protocols and deadlines defined by funder, including data collected from other community-based providers working with students after school.

Develop and maintain collegial relationships with teachers, paraprofessionals and building support staff in order to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and data collection.

Maintain individual records on all youth engaged in programming, following established agency protocols.

Maintain on-site records of all reporting provided to funding sources.

Conduct evaluations of services.

Recruit, coordinate and supervise volunteers.

Communicate and cooperate with funding agencies and related supporting organizations.

Other:

Troubleshooting, including “rolling up sleeves” to assure that services are provided.

As assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.

3-5 years’ experience in an out of school time or education setting working with youth in Grades K-12. 21st Century Community Learning Center experience a plus.

Supervisory experience. Child Care Administrator experience a plus.

Ability to guide part-time staff and/or volunteers who will lead groups of youth in activities created by Site Director or other staff.

Experience working with a variety of people of different ages, educational levels, races, socio-economic situations and ethnicities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated initiative and adeptness at managing change.

Demonstrated organizational skills.

Ability to manage shifting priorities and work under deadlines.

Physically able to perform job duties on a daily basis.

Valid driver’s license required.

Must meet the criminal background check requirements to qualify as a Child Care Administrator in a State of Ohio licensed child care center.
