ACCOUNTANT I – *Business Services

POSITION OVERVIEW*
This position is primarily responsible for the accounting related to the general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable, and payroll. This position also assists with preparing and/or verifying accounting records, reports, audits, grants, and reconciliations. Works flexibly as part of the ESD’s accounting team to ensure all accounting and reporting needs of the ESD are properly accounted for and remain in compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping, or equivalent work experience and/or professional certifications.
- Knowledge of accounting methods, practices, local budget law, Medicaid billing processes, Federal and State laws related to payroll and terminology used in finance and fund accounting.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and GASB.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of accounting software and work to learn software where proficiency is needed.
- Proficient with and able to access and accurately input information into computer systems using various programs. (i.e., Excel, Word, Infinite Visions Business Information System)
- Proficient and effective written and verbal skills including ability to respond effectively to verbal and written directions with a high degree of accuracy.

- After a successful 6-month evaluation, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists in processing payroll, including reconciliations and quarterly and annual reporting.
- Performs monthly reconciliations including but not limited to fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, liability accounts, procurement cards, and cash bank accounts.
- Supports audits by preparing schedules, working papers, and other materials as directed.
- Assists ESD and constituent districts with Medicaid Administrative Claims.
- Creates and uploads or enters journal entries consistent with fund accounting principles.
- Prepares and submits reports to the Oregon Department of Education and the State of Oregon.
- Assist with troubleshooting, purchase order research, and errors in accounting software.
- Prepare complex spreadsheets to calculate and analyze financial data.
- Maintain detailed accounting records for grant funds and other special revenue funds.
- Maintain personnel, financial and related records; prepare written and computerized reports as requested.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
SALARY AND BENEFIT INFORMATION
- Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based on the current school year
- Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD Classified salary schedule will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training, and experience
- Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health, dental and vision insurance premiums
- Employer paid PERS, holidays, sick leave and personal days are also provided
- Employer paid Life Insurance 1 x annual salary
