The Accounting Manager reports to the Division Controller, and is located in Landover, MD.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the management of all aspects of the Accounting Department. Primary areas of supervision include establishing strong internal controls and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with all TriMark Policies and GAAP, manage journal entry preparation, maintain inventory accuracy and correct valuation, project WIP revenue recognition, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, fixed asset transactions, sales tax filings, sales commission preparation, month and year end close, and support for all compliance and internal control audit. This position will also complete ad hoc account analysis, and provide budget and forecast support, and business analysis as required by the business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage general accounting staff
- Manage month end and year end close for the division achieving all corporate deadlines
- Maintain accurate inventory valuation, and variance deferrals
- Manage customer and vendor rebate processes and accruals
- Ensure accurate Project WIP revenue recognition and project profitability analysis
- Ensure accurate Sales Tax deposits and filings
- Monitor invoicing of daily distribution transactions and project billings for accuracy
- Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are up-to-date and issues resolved timely
- Ensure intercompany transactions processed and accounts reconciled to corporate and other divisions
- Fixed Asset transactions captured accurately and timely
- Prepare, review, and gain management approval and submit sales commission payments to payroll
- Prepare and submit bank borrowing base report to Corporate for consolidation and submission to bank
- Working with the Division Controller, prepare financial statements, analysis and commentary
- Support for internal and external compliance audits and information requests
- Able to manage accounting processes to ensure both accuracy and compliance with required deadlines
- Able to maintain strict confidence regarding sensitive /protected information
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database tools
- Experience with ERP systems and able to develop deep knowledge of TriMark ERP system
- Able to collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
- Able to work independently and be self-directed
- Possesses strong work ethic, is detail oriented, and achieves results
- Has a keen focus on process improvement
- Able to operate as a business partner and support to cross functional teams
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Minimum of five years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution business
- CPA is preferred
- ERP experience
- Process improvement skills a strong plus
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate’s unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.
In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark’s’ benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
