Position Summary
Be responsible to assist Divisional Correctional Services Director in administration, coordination of special projects, making contacts and program planning. In addition, serves as back-up for the front desk reception and mailroom. This is a part-time position with a workweek expectation of 20 hours per week. Expected pay for this position is $16.24 per hour.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent is required.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Be trustworthy, especially in confidential matters.
- Be well organized and efficient, able to accept supervision.
- Work as a team member.
- Work well with clients of diverse cultural and socioeconomic groups.
- Willing to support the philosophy, goals, and Mission of The Salvation Army.
- Must be able pass the Salvation Army’s background check and meet the driver’s MVR qualification.
- Must be able to pass the DOC and BOP background checks.
- Ability to work independently on special projects.
- It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
Description of Position
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients and visitors; respect of others’ property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors and subordinates. Administrative Duties
- Typing, filing, mailing, sorting, copying, faxing, scanning documents into database.
- Operates office equipment, including, computers, copiers, and fax machines.
- Maintain all databases and keep accurate records of all pertinent information including client, vouchers, gas cards, Toy Lift and volunteers, etc.
- Maintain equipment and office supplies, order supplies as needed.
- Answer phone calls, taking messages, and making necessary referrals.
- Reply to some inmate correspondence as dictated by supervisor.
- Assist in administration of Prison Toy Lift as needed.
- Make room arrangements and prep rooms for all meetings i.e. food and drink set up, etc.
- Attends staff meetings – records meeting minutes for distribution.
- Assist department chaplains with assignments as requested.
- Observe the policies and procedures of each correctional facility.
- Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties and responsibilities within the scope of this job description as requested by management representatives from time to time.
