TASK DESCRIPTION:


Aircraft Mechanic II (23022): Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.


Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational, Intermediate, and Limited Depot Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:


Avionics/Electrical Systems and related Sub-Systems


Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the Performance Work Statement (PWS). Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.


Task Requirements:

  • Performs aircraft maintenance functions at the Organizational, Intermediate, and Limited Depot Level
  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned MH-53 aircraft
  • Performs aircraft Daily Turn Around Inspections
  • Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, corrosion control, preservation/depreservation
  • Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to continuously support the assigned readiness posture
  • Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft electrical and avionics on flight controls, pneumatic, hydraulic, and ventilation and heating systems.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).
  • Inspect, repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components/sub components to include rigging of flight control.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

  • Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment
  • Perform shift work and/or overtime as required
  • Perform phase, scheduled, unscheduled, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
  • Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years’ MH-53 rotary wing experience
  • Seven or more years’ rotary wing maintenance experience
  • Familiarity and ability to use NAVAIR IETMS.
  • Four or more years’ experience with NALCOMIS/OOMA
  • Basic Corrosion Control Course
  • Automated Track and Balancing System (ATABS) Course (NATEC provides).
  • Previously certified MH-53 CDI/CDQAR

Basic Qualifications:

  • Individual (I) Aircraft Maintenance Qualification for MH-53
  • Three years MH-53 aviation maintenance experience
  • Must be able to work shift schedules as required per Performance Work Statement (PWS)
  • Must be able work work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Sn-Th or as required per PWS
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to obtain favorable National Agency Check with Written Inquires (NACI), IAW DTM-08-003 “Next Generation Common Access Card (CAC) Implementation Guidance
  • Secret Clearances: Satisfactory completion of a National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquiries (ANACI) resulting in eligibility for a SECRET clearance shall be required of employees assigned.
  • Personnel performing duties as an avionics technician shall have a minimum security clearance of SECRET
  • Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools
  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts
  • Must be able to pass employment physicals
  • Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties if required

Compensation

$32.86/hour

Other Compensation

Employees will receive a health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour worked.
