Purpose of Position
THSI POSITION WILL BE USED FOR ONGOING RECURITMENT AND MAY BE SCREENED MORE THAN ONCE.
Why does the job exist?
Provide advocacy and intervention services through informal mediation and community outreach for constituents.
How does it get done?
Respond to daily voice-mails, respond to complaints filed online, assist walk-in complainants.
Who are the customers?
State of New Mexico constituents.
Ideal Candidate
Spanish speaking preferred but not required. Background in customer service with experience facilitating solutions. Background in consumer advocacy in areas of healthcare, education, government programs, etc.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Services or Political Science and two (2) years of experience using mediation techniques and/or dispute resolution methods. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Must poses a valid drivers license and pass a background check.
Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated August 12, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
In addition, employees working in State correctional facilities who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to inmates are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, lifting and reaching may be required. Ability to complete assignments with a high level of accuracy within strict time constraints. Incumbent will have direct contact with customers to provide assistance. Contacts may be angry and may also require extensive explanations about their responsibilities and rights under the law. Must be able to lift 25 - 30 lbs. Occasional travel may be required. Ability to read, write and speak in Spanish is preferred
