Job description
The Assistant Controller works closely with the Director of Finance to manage and execute all aspects of the organization’s financial operations needs. This role’s deep financial & accounting experience and demonstrated execution help ensure the organization has accurate & timely financial data and insights to support sound business decisions made at senior leadership level.
Key Job Responsibilities
Financial Operations Management
- Create and manage KPI reporting and dashboard metrics for Finance department individuals and departmental performance management.
- Conduct automation assessment and analysis for Finance department.
- Create, implement, and update the Finance department financial policies and procedures.
- Provide input/assistance with purchasing of larger $5000 assets, transactions, and contract needs.
Support Bookkeeping & Accounting Functions
- Support and provide backup for Accounting (A/P, Revenue, A/R) and payroll processing as needed.
- Provide account audit and GL reconciliation support.
- Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other transactions.
- Provide database structure maintenance such as PR record management, annual G/L structure setup, budget rollovers, budget manager setup, and annual account closeout/balance forward support.
- Partner with business analysts to identify opportunities for accounting process automation.
- Support treasury management account oversight & cash account management for the organization.
Report Preparation, Compliance Execution & Support
- Conduct compliance reporting (such as SAR, 990, census, and 1099) per schedule.
- Expert in application of GAAP reporting standards.
- Perform data collection and assist in desk review, responses, and reporting on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Prepare tax documents and fulfill the organization’s tax reporting needs (excise, payroll, etc.) per schedule.
- Prepare other official reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Support target setting, budgeting, forecasting, scorecards, quarterly/monthly/yearly reporting.
- Track, document, and report on fixed asset management needs such as interface and fixed asset records, depreciation, and inventory control & compliance.
- Provide back up support for retirement plan administration, including regulatory & tax filing, and attendance of the investment committee as requested.
- Interpret complex financial information and provide updates, information, and other reporting as needed.
- Identify opportunities to enhance, develop, and mature the organization’s financial reporting needs.
- Support annual Board of Directors and Finance Committee audit and tax reviews.
- Work with the Director of Finance to ensure financial and accounting practices and reporting are in line with statuary regulations and legislation.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of demonstrated strong financial skills and experience. Strong Excel and ERP Systems technical capability. Experience in writing reports using third party reporting tools, Cognos experience a plus.

Pay Range:
$81,700 - 140,520 annually
