GENERAL SUMMARY:

Summary:

The Physician Assistant works directly with, and under the guidance of the physician(s) and functions as an essential member of the specialty team. The Physician Assistant works in a team-based, patient-centered care environment, in accordance with established protocols, practices, and standardized guidelines. Utilize prescriptive authority minimum 30% of time; Ambulatory setting minimum 20% of time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Demonstrates proficiency in the care of patients in inpatient, outpatient, Emergency Department and operative settings
2. Demonstrates proficiency in providing Physician Assistant Surgical First Assistant coverage for all operative procedures as required
3. Utilizes sound clinical judgment based on best practice when implementing the therapeutic regimen:
4. Demonstrates the ability to interact with and contribute to the professional development of peers and other healthcare providers
5. All other duties and special projects as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:

• Education Master Degree

  Physician Assistant - Controlled Substances Registration
  Physician Assistant-Certified
  Basic Life Support
  Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 1 year experience in area of specialty setting or a new graduate with appropriate surgical rotations.

Preferred: 5 years’ experience as a Physician Assistant in area of practice.
