Harris Group is seeking an Associate Control (Electrical or Mechanical) Engineer to join our Portland, OR region. This is an exciting opportunity for an entry level Engineer to learn and grow! Job Summary


Harris Group is looking for an Associate Control (Electrical and Mechanical) Engineer to work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers on industrial applications related to process manufacturing, aerospace, chemical processing, and municipalities. This opportunity will be based in Harris Group’s Portland office, and there will be travel assignments to our other regions.


The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and a desire to develop in the Automation and Instrumentation discipline. Bring your curiosity and problem-solving skills to this exciting role!


Responsibilities


  • Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on varied and diverse projects.
  • Supporting control system testing, equipment commissioning, and field testing.
  • Field information gathering and surveying.
  • PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, programming, and upgrade.
  • Developing drawings and specifications for construction.
  • Equipment selection, cost estimating, and equipment layout.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to an off-site location and/or accept client site assignments when required.

Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 0 - 3 years of relevant experience in PLC programming and HMI or SCADA configuration.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the year required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic, curiosity, and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to use a computer and software programs, such as AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
