Title: Associate Director, Online Learning
Department: SEO Scholars, High School
Reporting to: National Director of Learning
Compensation: $95,000 - $105,000 (Annually)
FLSA: Exempt
LOCATION / HOURS
This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our New York City office. It is expected that some duties will be performed on-site at least 2-days a week, and some remotely, with the understanding that government and public health guidelines will help determine the extent to which it is safe to carry out in-person and onsite activities.
All candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY 10005, upon hire.

About High School Scholars
SEO Scholars is a free eight-year academic program that gets low-income public high school students to and through college–with a 90% college graduation rate. In high school, we offer intensive year-round academic preparation via a carefully-calibrated, rigorously-assessed course of supplemental education. Scholars also receive one-on-one mentorship, enrichment opportunities, SAT prep and strategy courses, tutoring, and individualized guidance through the college application and admissions process. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate Director, Online Learning will lead, advance, and implement a results-centered, integrated strategic plan for the High School Scholars online education program at SEO that enhances existing and emerging education efforts of the organization. Collaborating directly with and acting as a key strategic advisor, the Associate Director of Online Learning will partner with the National Director of Learning, and other curriculum and instruction team members to create a coherent ecosystem of accessible, online educational opportunities that comprehensively serves its students. The Associate Director provides project management for all online course developments within SEO Scholars. This position will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and in adherence to SEO's standards for quality by creating project plans, organizing work, managing risk, and resolving or escalating issues as appropriate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy, Vision, and Leadership
Define and guide a strategic plan to support the continued development of the national expansion online program
Set and implement goals and metrics for online
Collaborate with the National Director of learning, content team leads, and the Instructional Designer on program and course design, production, and
Work closely with the National Director of Learning and the Head of Expansion regarding prospective student needs and program alignment to ensure the success of programs and student retention.
Establish specific, measurable goals and other performance expectations, implement a systematic review process to evaluate objectives, progress, and
Provide leadership on online learning across SEO Scholars
Remain current on developments in online learning nationally and worldwide to continuously improve upon the program to ensure student success
Quality Assurance
Develops the evaluation framework by which the SEO online courses will be evaluated and provides continuous support on quality improvement
Oversee instructional design activities to promote continuous quality improvement in course and program design and
Along with other members of the online learning team, identify and recommend the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications to improve quality of online
Ensures compliance with national, state, district, and team standards for quality, evaluation, alignment, ADA and legal propriety
Ensures course content is accessible and equitable, and meets established standards for quality assurance.
Maintains knowledge of accessibility best practices and leads course reviews to ensure course alignment and standards are
Keep abreast of emerging technologies and how they can be used to improve the student instructional experience
Management and Supervision
Provide direction and manage instructional designer, and other team members as needed
Manage budget responsibilities for the online learning
Maintain working relationships with the part-time instructional staff
Facilitates the creation, organization, and implementation of professional staff development programs/activities related to online education, learning resources, content accessibility, for the part-time instructional staff
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Master’s degree in Online Learning, Instructional Design, or related field
Quality Matters (QM) and/or Online Learning Consortium (OLC) certification in online course design and/or delivery
Experience providing instructional design support using the Brightspace or related learning management system
Experience working on a curriculum and instruction team, a center for educational development, or related environment
Experience providing instructional design across modalities (i.e. face-to-face, hybrid and online courses)
Experience designing learning environments for various types of student groups
Expertise in program and course design principles.
Proficiency in Instructional Design theories with a solid knowledge of course development software
Ability to design differentiated, research-based, culturally responsive, student-centered lessons and materials for a wide range of abilities and identities that promote deep conceptual understanding
Deep understanding of curricular frameworks, pedagogy, and quality classroom materials; experience developing and implementing curriculum for high school students
Thorough knowledge of effective instruction and knowledge of current theories of curriculum instruction and assessment
Experience managing and coaching individuals and teams to support exceptional outcomes
Strong management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, develop, and collaborate with the C&I team, and the High and College Scholars teams
3+ years of experience teaching; 3+ years of experience designing differentiated and UDL aligned curriculum and instructional materials for others
Experience and facility with managing systems and software platforms for both synchronous and asynchronous remote delivery of academic content
Exceptional skill in communicating complex systems, structures, and processes with clarity and precision
Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit that translates into successful accomplishment of program departmental
Highly adaptable and solutions-oriented with an ability to solve complex problems when faced with tight deadlines and resource
COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
Strong verbal and written communication skills for a variety of audiences
Experience with budget proposals and management

The compensation listed in this posting reflects what SEO believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting.
