Creighton University is looking for a Associate Director for Student Accessibility Services


In accordance with Section 504 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA), Creighton University provides reasonable accommodations to qualified students and staff with documented disabilities. In this effort, the Associate Director serves a critical role in the implementation of a comprehensive program of services to meet the needs of students with disabilities within the framework of university policy and federal regulations, current and accepted learning theories, and available financial resources. This position is also responsible for providing leadership in the area of clinical accommodations and leads and represents the Office of Student Accessibility Services in the Director’s absence.


Responsibilities



40% Liaison with the the Office of Student and Family Support and provide direct service to students who are identified as retention risks and needing additional support. Coordinate CreightonConnect alerts and documentation for the SAS Office.

15% Develop programmatic experiences and interventions for specified cohorts of students with disabilities, to include classes, co-curricular events, and success workshops.

15% Provide leadership and coordination on clinical accommodations granted by SAS. This includes meeting with professional school supervisors of clinical sites and evaluating reasonableness of needed accommodations.

15% Evaluate academic, physical, and emotional accommodation requests and review documentation for assigned Creighton students; follow-up on accommodation implementation.

10% Manage the progress and maintain regular contact of assigned students with disabilities; provides counseling and assists in in student interventions as needed; orients each student toward his/her role as a self-advocate for services.

5% Assist with the SAS testing center, to include proctoring exams for students with disabilities and coordinating/scheduling exams as needed.


Qualifications



- Master's Degree in counseling, psychology or social work or related educational field required.



-Minimum three + (3+) to five (5) years’ experience working in a disability accommodations office environment at a post-secondary (preferred) or secondary level.



- Knowledge and awareness of ADA laws, policies, and regulations, and how they impact higher education.



- Direct experience counseling and advising students.
