?Summary/Objective
The Cellarman is responsible for supporting the head brewer in the day-to-day operations.
Essential Functions
- Maintenance and cleanliness equipment.
- Cleanliness and maintenance of draft lines
- Cleaning and filling of keg cooperage
- Working bottling and canning lines
- Representing the brewery at festivals and beer tastings
- Quality Control in the cellar processes (from keg to glass).
- Processing raw materials, gather, weigh out and stage all brewing ingredients to keep production running smooth and all at optimal quality level.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position operates in restaurant, office setting but mainly the brewery. There are stairs and uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, slipping, tripping, and falls. Frequent hand washing is required due to staff interactions in food/brewery areas. Job responsibilities may include working outdoors in the Denali, Alaska area in Spring and Fall, when temperatures are at or below freezing and walking surfaces may be slippery.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands and handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit. The position must require frequently lift and/or move 55 pounds, and be able to move full kegs which can weigh close to 165 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Dependent on business, 30-40 hours. Might include nights and weekends, as needed. Required to work festivals either on our properties or a different location.
Travel
To other brewery locations may be needed year-round. The cellarman can expect to be asked to work at either brewery location in Anchorage. If the cellarman is required to assist with brewing operations at our Denali Park location, transportation, lodging and food will be provided.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required, plus 1 year of similar or related experiences.
Preferred Education and Experience
- X years of related experience.
- Basic understanding of computer programs for brewery functions.
