HopeWest is looking for our next Chief Financial Officer who will help us continue our non-profit and community supported Mission - Through creativity, volunteerism, and philanthropy, we profoundly change the experiences of aging, illness, and grief – one family at a time.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has the key responsibility for the integrity and effectiveness of the financial systems, technology systems and the revenue performance of the organization. This position is responsible for utilizing healthcare business acumen and leadership skills to provide strategic direction, intuitive analysis, and constructive critical thinking to assist the organization. The CFO is responsible for establishing major economic objectives and policies for the organization. The CFO will invest in staff, develop teams, strengthen culture, and build high-performing and high-functioning teams that maintain the organization's business operations.
Responsibilities
- Assumes a lead role in analyzing and exploring means of planning operating costs and increasing revenues based on knowledge of market trends, financial reports and operating procedures.
- Develops long and short-range operational and capital budgets, which are supported by the organization’s long and short-range plans and objectives. Recommends budget modifications as required.
- Provides analysis, monitoring, and negotiations of all managed care contracts, including Medicare Advantage plans. Includes ability to develop cost structures to support contracts collaboratively with the senior team.
- Delegates to and establishes priorities for the Information Technology leader that provides for acquisition of hardware, software and oversight of the data warehouse that meet the established direction of the strategic leadership.
- Responsible for direction and submission on a timely basis all financial data associated reports required by government and other regulated agencies including payroll tax reports, public disclosure reports and third-party payor cost reports.
- Assures timely preparation of financial statements and that the reports reliably reflect the organization's financial position.
- Leads Business Operations departments, assuring timely billing, accounts payable, payroll, accounting, and other compliance and fiscal responsibilities.
- Delivers regular presentations to the Board of Directors, management, program staff, and auditors.
- Fiduciary responsibility and oversight of HopeWest’s 403b and 457 retirement plans.
Requirements
- BA in business with emphasis in accounting, business administration or public administration, MBA and/or CPA is desired.
- Experience with analysis, monitoring, and negotiations of all managed care contracts, including Medicare Advantage plans. Includes ability to develop cost structures to support contracts.
- Minimum ten years’ experience in accounting, billing, and grant reporting functions in a non-profit organization, in a health care environment.
- Successful experience with short-and long-term financial and business planning and adept at developing and executing strategies.
- Minimum five years’ experience performing audits in a corporate environment.
- Experience in the administration and financial reporting of employee retirement plans.
- Proven leadership on senior management team.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work with internal and external customers to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
- Capable of influencing all levels to build a structure that supports business/financial plans necessary for growth and changes.
- Proven knowledge of GAAP.
- Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high-performing teams, and set and achieve strategic objectives.
