Description of Position:

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, Assistant Manager and the assigned Department Supervisor, performs and interprets waived, moderate and complex laboratory examinations in a high complexity (CLIA) environment. Assesses and verifies the validity of these results before releasing them to the providers. Assist in the development and writing of new procedures and techniques. Perform related duties incidental to the work described herein. Educates and may be asked to give direction to Phlebotomists, Receptionists, and Lab Assistants. Receives direction from: Laboratory Manager, Assistant Laboratory Manager, Department Supervisors.

Basic Great Falls Clinic Performance Criteria

• Completes CORE requirements.

• Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.

• Is knowledgeable of compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:

BA / BS degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or related field along with the successful completion of a clinical internship (NAACLS accredited or equivalent).

Experience:

Must be able to perform as an “in-charge” person in the absence of managers or supervisors. Must be able and willing to train newly hired staff members within levels of expertise.

License(s)/Certification(s):

MT(ASCP) or other nationally recognized registry.

Current Montana State CLS Certification.
