Position Summary:
LEADERSHIP

Assists in the development of student improvement plans that are aligned to the Vision Mission and Values of SPCHSNP and St. Petersburg College.

Facilitates articulation between SPCHSNP and SPC staff, faculty, and parents regarding student achievement issues.

Performs instructional leadership functions as assigned by the principal.

Assists with the development of a Professional Development plan aligned to school and college strategic initiatives, goals, program evaluation and accreditation.

Effectively leads the MTSS, EL Committees, communicates data, and collaborates with faculty to ensure students’ needs and achievement goals are met.

Is knowledgeable about evidenced-based instructional strategies for high school students including dual enrollment. Supports SPCHSNP and SPC's goals and strategic initiatives.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

Oversees the development of long-and short-term goals and processes to ensure that each classroom focuses on the SPCHSNP student expectations and goals.

Participates in the analysis of data and the development and implementation of the school improvement plan.

Sets clear targets that can be measured by results and monitors progress towards goals.

Helps align school initiatives with the accreditation standards, SPC graduation requirements and Pinellas County Schools'/state high school graduation requirements.

SCHOOL CLIMATE AND THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Assists in ensuring a safe, nurturing, and effective learning environment for staff and students.

Assists in monitoring the level of student/teacher involvement, well-being and satisfaction.

Assists with conducting information sessions and providing information about SPCHS to potential parents and students.

Assists with facilitating new student orientations.

INFORMATION AND ANALYSIS

Serves as Testing Coordinator. Monitors and communicates results data to stakeholders.

Contributes to an information system that supports the accomplishment of and SPCHSNPSPC's goals and student expectations.Helps school personnel use data to make decisions to individualize and improve instruction.

Uses comparison, trend and benchmark data to assess the rate of school/classroom improvement.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND PROCESS MANAGEMENT

Provides effective school-based training to improve academic performance results.

Conducts demonstration lessons in classrooms.

Shares best practices, especially those that assist struggling students.

Assists with the development of school goals and monitors data to ensure goal attainment.

Works with teachers to develop processes and strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Assists with the review and communication to parents of progress toward school/classroom goals.

Advocates, facilitates, and monitors student achievement for goal attainment.

Uses systems that examine the school/classroom performance level and improvement trends in highest student achievement and safe learning environment.

Classroom/school accountability for results aligned to all school and college strategic directions.

Performs related duties as required.

A faculty member at SPC has the primary function of instruction, coaching and student development. Secondary functions include assisting the college in developing and maintaining a quality program of instruction, providing service to the college and continuing professional development.

Requirements:
Education:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Possession of (or eligible for) a valid regular Florida teaching certificate in any field. At least three (3) years of successful teaching in at the high school level.

PREFERRED :
Master’s degree. Demonstrated understanding of the:
MTSS Rti Model, ELand 504 processes

Evidence base learning strategies to differential instruction for high school students

Integration of technology with curriculum and instruction.

Knowledge:
Managerial principles and practices

Academic program requirements

Customer service principles

Presentation principles and practices

Diverse populations and cultures

Computers and related software applications

Skills:
Experience in online instruction or technology enhanced instruction

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Using a computer and related software applications

Responsibilities:
Fosters academic excellence in teaching and learning

Supports the community college philosophy through commitment to success of students with diverse goals, backgrounds and learning styles

Instructs students in accordance with college policies, procedures and approved curricula

Uses out-of-class duty hours effectively for class preparation, assisting students and participating in department/college activities

Serves the college through any of the following: (a) committee membership, (b) curriculum development, (c) development of innovative instruction, (d) sponsorship of student organizations, (e) representation of the college in professionally related community activities, and (f) special projects

Supports college extracurricular functions

Maintains currency in teaching field(s) through professional development and scholarly activities

Demonstrates a professional, cooperative and considerate attitude toward students, colleagues and staff

Performs related duties as required
