- (3221407)GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Receiving general direction from the Program Manager, this position is responsible for developing programming for the Youth Zone and work with the youth on a daily basis in the mileu.. Drawing on a broad understanding of the social-emotional development of youth and displaying a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, the incumbent will continually assess the needs of the Youth Zone students to create and implement age- appropriate activities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides students with structured recreational and social activities with the assistance of youth workers.
- Helps students with homework assignments.
- Provides direct supervision to youth as needed and serves as a role model for both youth workers and Youth Zone students.
- Attends and contributes to weekly staff meetings.
- May represent the program at interdepartmental meetings.
- Collaborates with teachers, community groups, parents, and caregivers.
- Encourages students to participate in all Youth Zone activities.
- Serves as a role model to both Youth Zone students and youth workers.

QUALIFICATIONS: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)
Undergraduate degree in sociology, education, or related field.
Experience with school–aged youth
Good organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective team collaboration.
A minimum of 2 years experience working with youth.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of community resources/agencies. Ability to advocate/negotiate systems for students and families.
Maintains student/family confidentiality.
Ability to collaborate and teach.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Fast paced working environment.
Indoors and outdoors in a recreational setting (weather dependent)
