Job as an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) Community Liaison:
The OTP Liaison will serve as a human link between the Opioid Treatment Program and the community. The key responsibility is to work with the local stakeholders and community-based organizations (ex. police departments, first responders, federally qualified health centers, local housing agencies, and primary care settings) to ensure there is an understanding of and access to medication assisted treatment.

Responsibilities as an OTP Community Liaison:
- Schedule and facilitate meetings with local community organizations to discover any barriers and concerns related to accessing and understanding MAT/OTP services.
- Write timely reports to share insights with the OTP Executive staff and gathered information to include in the quarterly reports due to BHDDH following any community meetings.
- Provide quarterly reports to BHDDH to include the above.
- Report to the OTP Executive staff assigned to supervise and help coordinate his/her activities.
- Coordinate a community needs assessment with the local and regional prevention coalitions and Health Equity Zones to determine both educational needs and resource supports.
- Build effective partnerships to facilitate engagement and outreach by promoting grassroots marketing initiatives.
- Interface with communities and openly represent the OTP among businesses, at Community Overdose Engagement (CODE) meetings, local and Governor’s Task Force meetings, and other potential collaborative opportunities, with the intent to improve education and access to MAT services.
- Suggest solution tactics after identifying agency barriers to encourage resolutions and provide follow up meetings to ensure continued relationship building and coordination.
- Meet with other OTP Liaisons quarterly to share planning activities and to avoid duplication of efforts.
- Attend the Governor’s Overdose Treatment workgroup to assist in the strategic workplan to build access and reduce stigma regarding MAT.
- May assist in MAT coordination issues with BH LINK.
- Perform general administrative duties as assigned and participate in supervision activities.
Skills and Qualifications as an
OTP Community Liaison:
- Bachelor’ or Master's degree in social/health sciences, social work, sociology, psychology, public administration, or related discipline.
- Experience with Medication Assisted Therapy or be able to demonstrate full knowledge of all 3 FDA medications along with a solid understanding of RI treatment resources and the various ASAM levels of care required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in the community sector with diverse organizations and with individuals living with a range of diverse needs including disabilities, mental health, cultural diversity and complex care needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the initiative to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to consult and liaise with health and community organizations to coordinate activities.
- Demonstrated high level of effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Preferred qualifications are for a minimum of 5 years’ experience conducting community outreach and coordination.
- Working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
Licenses/Certifications:
- LCDP/LCAADC preferred AHCTC
