Position: Community Living Staff
Join a support team enriching the life of a friendly, energetic young man with developmental disabilities in the Fremont area.
Work with one team member providing support and companionship to the client. Provide housekeeping, cooking, laundry and other personal services and/or training, as needed.
Provide support for activities of interest to the client, such as hiking, walking, reading together, playing games, and listening to or making music. Support activities staff in introducing new skills and community activities.
Part-time and Full-time. Shifts are 8AM - 1PM and 1PM - 9PM and 9PM - 8AM. (Overnight shifts available to staff who have worked daytime.)
Required:
Interest in working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities
Cheerful, energetic, kind personality
Ability to think ahead and take initiative
Experience with household duties such as cooking, cleaning and laundry
Be able to stand, sit, and be mobile for most of work shift when needed
Be able to walk 5 miles when needed
Be able to provide personal care
High school diploma
At least 18 years of age
Preferred:
Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities
College degree or college studies, especially in psychology, speech or occupational therapy
Knowledge of healthy cooking
Knowledge of behavioral supports such as redirection and de-escalation
Hourly rates: $20-25/hour daytime shifts; $19/hour overnight shifts
Sign on bonus: $200 per month for first five full months worked (maximum total of $1,000 bonus).
Medical insurance if regularly working 30 or more hours/week (share of cost)
Paid training with staff team in areas such as autism, psychology, development and behavioral management as they relate to client.
Location: Fremont/Union City area, safe neighborhood, walking distance from BART
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
