GeoTest Services, Inc. [GeoTest] provides a comprehensive service suite to assist our clients with their
project needs from design throughout construction completion. Services include geotechnical
engineering, environmental compliance, special inspection, construction materials testing, and building
science services. Exceeding 26 years in business, GeoTest participates in some of the most interesting
development projects in the Puget Sound region. Our company maintains three offices and two
accredited materials testing laboratories.
GeoTest is seeking to fill a Field Technician position in our Arlington office. This position provides
support to the field testing and inspection staff by communicating effectively with project managers
and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support for project completion. This
support position is in our Construction Special Inspection department. Responsibilities and duties may
vary depending on season, workload, and the needs of GeoTest and our clients.
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
- Preferred certifications/qualifications include (GeoTest will train to obtain certifications, if
necessary):
o ICC Reinforced Concrete
o Nuclear Gauge Certification
o ICC Soils Special Inspector Certification
o ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I Certification
o Certified Erosion Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) Certification
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications is preferred but not required.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a construction-related field is preferred but not required.
- Ability to obtain access at refineries as directed. This will include obtaining a Transportation Worker
Authorization Card (TWIC), in addition to enrollment and compliance in both Occupational Safety
Council of America (OSCA) and DISA Global Solutions. Refineries are a Drug Free Workplace and
require specific drug screening.
- Strong organizational, computer, and math skills are required.
- Clean driving record is required.
- Ability to work outside, work independently, and be a self-starter.
- Able to travel to construction project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
- Effective oral communication skills are required. Must be able to effectively communicate test
- Effective written communication skills are required. Must be able to accurately document test
results and observations using a tablet or laptop in the field. Reports must be clear and concise,
while using proper grammar.
- Lift 50-70 lbs from a standing, crouched, or kneeling position, repeatedly.
- Carry 50-70 lbs in the form of sample bags, buckets, equipment, cylinders, or wheelbarrows.
- Stand on a hard surface for 8 or more hours per day.
- Sit or drive for 2 to 4 hours per day.
- Periodically lift equipment, buckets, or tools on uneven terrain.
- Walk and carry sample bags/buckets, tools on construction sites, gravel pits, open fields, and/or
uneven terrain periodically.
