Forklift Operator/Container Yard Technician

Container Storage is a premier portable storage container rental and sales company. We are looking for a reliable, skilled and energetic person to join our growing team as Forklift Operator/ Container Yard Technician in our container rental yard in Hutchins TX. You will be helping our team exceed our customer expectation as you do your part to provide quality equipment and service to every customer. You will be organized, eager, trustworthy and ready to pitch in with whatever needs to get the job done. RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Operate a large forklift and other equipment for loading, stacking and unloading containers to/from trucks.

· Repair, straighten metal, weld holes and cuts and re-paint containers and other equipment to maintain high quality of equipment.

· Cleaning, sweeping and pressure washing of containers and other equipment and components as needed to prepare equipment for rental.

· Apply decals and stenciling on equipment as directed by supervisors

· Conduct daily preventative maintenance on yard mechanical equipment and forklifts as directed.

· Order and maintain parts and other inventory necessary to perform all work-related tasks.

· Assist supervisor with taking and keeping accurate physical inventory reports.

· Keep work areas and yard clean and organized throughout day to ensure safe work environment.

· Operate and maintain various hand and power tools in accordance with work needed.

· Organize and clean yard, wash areas and shop to ensure a safe working environment.

· Complete service reports, condition reports, timecards, and other related paperwork.

· Wear Personal Protective Equipment appropriate to assigned tasks and work areas.

· Assist customers with loading/unloading and safe operation of equipment prior to each rental.

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

· Ability to understand what job needs to get done and how to do it. Handyman and a jack of all trades mentality.

· To listen and take direction from supervisor and also think and act on your own.

· Ability to safely operate lift trucks, hand and power tools and other heavy equipment

· Ability to weld and operate safely a welding machine, oxygen/acetylene cutting tools, and plasma cutter

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

· Ability to stand, bend stoop, sit, twist and work at elevated heights using ladders and scaffolds for extended periods of time

· Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and good safety habits

· Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English, use repair manuals and write legibly.

· Must possess good verbal communication skills.

· Ability to operate a variety of other rental equipment necessary to perform tasks.

· Ability to work overtime as required and necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· High school education, or the equivalent.

· Previous lift truck certification preferred. Forklift experience a must.

· A valid TX driver’s license and reliable personal transportation to get to and from work

· One-to-two years previous experience as a container yard person, utility worker, construction laborer or related maintenance position, or equivalent educational or vocational experience.
