We are seeking an HVAC Control Systems Designer to join our federal engineering team. Our Engineers on this team get the unique opportunity to support some of our top government and military sites all over the United States, as well as some overseas. These duties may include cost estimating & sales support, designing control system shop drawing submittals, and generating product literature submittals.

Location: St. Louis, MO office preferred. Open to remote / virtual (work from home)

As a Control Systems Designer, you will:

  • Supports the pre-sales engineering process; cost estimating & sales support, designing control system shop drawing submittals, and generating product literature submittals
  • Coordinate drawings and equipment schedules for submittal packages that communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, field installation team and subcontractors
  • Provides field change information to the project team for as-built drawings (typically in Visio/CAD) and software
  • Participates in release meeting with project field team. Performs value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Designs and configures complex software building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required
  • Support technicians by ensuring the quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs
  • Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinates processes to meet factory and project schedule
  • Gathers field changes from the project team and creates as-built drawings and software. Prepares proper documentation and/or manuals for system operation
  • Completes paperwork including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation

Required Qualifications:


  • Proficiency and experience working with pre-sales engineering support (cost estimating, sales support, designing control system, shop drawing submittals, generating product literature submittals, design packages and submittals, etc)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with computer-related drafting tools. AutoCad and/or Visio experience preferred
  • Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances for projects being supported (background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit checks)

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Integration experience with low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (i.e. LON, BACnet, Modbus, etc.)
  • Proficiency creating SCT databases, custom programs, schedules, trends, alarms, and programming module

Preferred Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field, a vocational school four year program certificate, or an Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Computer Technology, HVAC/R, or a similar field
