The Culinary Systems Analyst is responsible for the input, administration and analysis of culinary-related data for SSP America’s menus, recipes, ingredients, food cost, food safety and nutrition. The position is under the supervision of the Director of Culinary Systems. The position will report to the Director of Culinary Systems.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze recipe cooking techniques, ingredient quantities, assembly procedures and recipe yields to identify potential errors in recipes
  • Review menu & recipe nutritional analysis using Crunch Time software solution in compliance with USDA and FDA guidelines and regulations
  • Review and analyze recipe & menu theoretical costs for commercial viability
  • Professionally write culinary specific preparation methods and HACCP procedures for food service style recipes
  • Culinary Data Input: Recipes, ingredients, costs, cooking procedures and nutrition into multiple software systems (Excel, My Inventory, Crunch Time Restaurant Management Software)
  • Assist with the preparation, development and testing of SSP recipes in coordination with SSP’s Research & Development Chef
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Regular attendance as required by SSP America attendance policy
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by manager

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a working Chef or Kitchen Manager required
  • Formal Culinary Education or equivalent professional experience required, with a background in nutrition preferred
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing, organization, project management, time management, and follow-up skills
  • Proven analytical, technical, and problem solving skills; capable of critical thinking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) advance experience in Excel with the ability to manage spreadsheets and other software as needed
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management in the field and at the SSP America corporate offices, as well as the SSP Group parent company offices in the United Kingdom
  • Proven ability to handle conflict, work under pressure/deal with high stress situations, and resolve uncomfortable situations with clients, customers, peers and direct reports, and do so while exercising sound judgement and decision making
  • Ability to maintain a dynamic and positive attitude to support our culture and work environment and foster positive and effective working relationships with others in the organization, clients, vendors, etc.; Must be open to feedback and criticism and adjust performance/behavior accordingly
  • Capable of critical thinking and problem solving

Administrative Responsibilities

This position works directly for members of senior management within the organization and will require the exercising of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to the organization. These include, but are not limited to analyzing techniques, ingredients, and recipe specifications and making and/or recommending changes that could affect the financial performance of the organization; making and/or recommending changes to recipes, production standards, or menus that could have an effect on the companies compliance with FDA, USDA, and HACCP regulations, and other responsibilities listed within this job description.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will vary, Wednesday through Tuesday and are dependent upon the hours mutually agreed upon with manager and based on the needs of the business. However, the position will work with multiple sites across the United States and Canada, so flexibility to early morning and evening hours is expected to compensate for the change in time zones, or as job duties demand. Work and travel on weekends and holidays and trips that require overnights may also be required.

Work Environment

This job functions independently, and/or in conjunction with cross-functional teams, with little or no direct supervision in an office setting, or may be home-based at the discretion of the manager. If travel became necessary, job duties would be performed in an airport environment, both pre and post-security, both within an office setting and in a restaurant, warehouse, and/or production environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and multiple computer programs, phones, smart phones, video conferencing and/or web conferencing, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Must be able to establish eligibility to work in the United States. This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check.
