Summary: Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling and education support to individuals and community groups, communicate with appropriate health care providers regarding dietary modifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Advise patients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modifications, and food selection and preparation.

 Counsel individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life. Coordinate diet counseling services.

 Consult with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient or client.

 Plan, conduct, and evaluate dietary, nutritional, and epidemiological research.

 Plan and conduct training programs in dietetics, nutrition, and institutional management and administration for medical students, health-care personnel and the general public.

 Make recommendations regarding public policy, such as nutrition labeling, food fortification, and nutrition standards.

 Performs other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience: B.S. Degree in Dietetics or related field of study, credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; to write routine reports and correspondence; to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications: Possesses necessary skills to effectively operate computer-based systems, which manage patient-care records; knowledge of computational practices; ServSafe® certified desirable.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; The employee is rarely required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
The employee will rarely lift up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is rarely exposed to moving mechanical parts; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 per year
