Job Summary:
The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for the operations and management of the Physical Plant and all Facilities services at the Main Campus, Fanny Allen Campus and UVMMC Satellite locations. The incumbent directs employed and contracted services that maintain building systems and infrastructure, including biomedical engineering. The incumbent is responsible for compliance activities for The Joint Commission's Equipment Management, Life Safety and Utilities Management Programs. The incumbent leads significant components of the organization’s sustainability program including energy management and conservation, mitigation of waste streams, and overall reduction of the organization's carbon footprint.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management or Business required. Knowledge of facilities management, building operations, environmental health and safety, and healthcare code and regulatory requirements are strongly preferred. Certification in Healthcare Facilities Management (CHFM) required or must be achieved within two years of hire.
Must possess a valid Vermont driver’s license and safe driving record
Experience:
Demonstrated leadership skills and progressive career advancement in Healthcare Facilities Management, Construction Management or Environmental Health and Safety.
Knowledge/Special Skills:
The Director of Facilities Management demonstrates effective management skills and knowledge of healthcare specific regulatory requirements. The Director of Facilities Management shall have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as effective human resource and interpersonal skills. He/she shall have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, communicate and listen effectively with frequent interruptions, while maintaining and developing a customer service focus at all times
