Overview:

An opportunity exists at Cordoba for a Transmission & Distribution Engineer in the Cordoba San Diego Office. The Engineer is responsible for reviewing designs of electric transmission & distribution lines for conformance to client requirements, applicable codes, and project processes and procedures as well as reviewing for constructability and technical accuracy. The ideal candidate is experienced in use of the PLS-CADD software suite for design and construction of high voltage overhead distribution (and/or transmission) projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Work with engineering and design team at Cordoba to review distribution engineering designs. Deliverables included in review can include but are not limited to: PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE models, plan and profile drawings, crossarm loading calculations, fielding photos and notes, pole loading summary reports, sag and tension reports and stringing charts, and project tracking data.
  • Provide clear and concise comments and justifications where design deficiencies are observed.
  • Review revised designs for incorporation of comments.
  • Identify trends or new issues and raise them for management review along with potential solutions.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with applicable company and client standards and procedures.
  • Attend meetings with clients, vendors and governing agencies as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of department and company goals.
  • Participate in special projects or tasks as required.
  • This position will be stationed in Cordoba San Diego office. Occasional travel to various Cordoba partner offices should be expected. Remote candidates may be considered dependent upon qualifications.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise
Required:
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and/or independently. Must be adaptable and flexible.
  • Proficiency utilizing knowledge and skills with MS Office Suite (including MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Outlook) and computer applications.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
  • Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check.
  • High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic.
Preferred:
  • Highly preferred EIT certification with intent to obtain PE licensure at minimum.
  • PE License (California or ability to obtain by comity)
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school. Civil or Electrical Engineering Degree strongly preferred.
Experience
Required:
  • 1+ years overhead electric utility distribution and/or transmission line design experience including applicable codes.
Preferred:
  • 3+ years overhead electric utility distribution and/or transmission line design experience including applicable codes.
  • Experience with construction of distribution and/or transmission lines.
  • Experience with CPUC GO-95.
  • Experience with San Diego Gas & Electric distribution and/or transmission line design and/or construction highly preferred.
  • Experience with other California utilities distribution and/or transmission line design and/or construction.
Salary Range:$72,800-$145,600
