Cumberland Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, an affiliate of Spark Dental Management, has an immediate opportunity available for an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant with a $2500 sign on bonus!

Position Summary
The pediatric dental restorative team member (EFDA) performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. An EFDA needs a calm disposition and a talent for building rapport with young patients, who may be scared or anxious. Tending to young patients and making them comfortable is of primary importance. You will also be required to work directly with pediatric dentists and anticipate their needs to maintain excellent patient care, take patient vitals as needed, help patients feel comfortable, maintain accurate clinical notes for all patients, along with other responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Must be able to work in a pediatric, child friendly environment
- Review all patient charts including; reason and necessity of visit, medical history, and treatment
- Verify patient information with parent or guardian, according to HIPAA privacy standards
- Verify the patient has consent for treatment from parent or guardian
- Advise parent or guardian what to expect in the visit and address any concerns
- Demonstrate the ability to properly preform restorations and sealants.
- Demonstrate proper isolation.
- Demonstrate the ability to properly preform coronal polishing and apply fluoride.
- Demonstrate the ability to properly place and remove rubber dams, matrices, & wedges.
- Demonstrate the ability to properly apply cavity liners and bases.
- Provide patient and parent/guardian homecare instructions.
- Clean and sterilize all instruments following OSHA and company standards. This includes; scrubbing instruments, packing the instruments and processing them through the statim or autoclave sterilizer
- Must maintain Dental Assisting License in good standing and complete the CE Credits required by state
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current State of TN EFDA License
- Current CPR Healthcare Provider Certification
- Polishing, Radiology, Nitrous Oxide Monitoring, and Sealant Certification
Physical Demands
- Standing, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching and sitting
- May be required to stay in a position for long periods of time
- Occasional lifting; moving up to 25 pounds
- Manual dexterity and manipulation
