Position Title: Financial Analyst

Department: Finance

Reports To: Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis


Location:
Atlanta, GA (*On-site)

* Incumbent must work in office in Atlanta four (4) days per week and may work remotely one (1) day per week with manager approval

Summary:

The Financial Analyst will be an integral part of the Finance Team and reports to the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis. The incumbent will work on areas associated with construction management, short-term investments, cash flow forecasting, board presentations, and other ad hoc projects. The Analyst will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of complex Excel based financial models. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of finance and accounting principles and have at least one year of direct corporate/project finance experience. Expertise in Excel (including VBA) is highly desirable.

The candidate is expected to be able to perform tasks under tight deadlines and without advance notice.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

The scope and duties of this position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of MEAG Power.

  • Leads the design, creation, and updates regarding complex Excel project finance models for investment in utility scale generation projects.
  • Assists in gathering and analyzing historical financial cost accounting data for construction projects.
  • Works with project management team and investment management group to improve cash flow projections and models.
  • Assists in reviewing contracts and maintaining compliance with loan covenants.
  • Analyzes financial data and provides forecasting support.
  • Prepares reports and projections based on financial data.
  • Prepares, analyzes and communicates key financial information for board and rating agency presentations.
  • Helps drive key insights, analytics, and improvements within the team and department.
  • Develops process and procedures in collaboration with accounting department around construction project management.
  • Supports preparation of financial presentations for management review.
  • Generates reports, graphs and charts as requested using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point and/or other financial applications.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or Accounting.
  • 1-4 Years related experience, demonstrating a progression in responsibilities.
  • Strong technical skills, with advanced excel capabilities, including use of macros.
  • Strong written and verbal skills required.
  • Demonstrated success in financial modeling and analysis.
  • Capable of critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Maturity/judgment to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to manage tasks to meet required deadlines.
  • Ability to adjust and make decisions under time constraints.
  • Strong business acumen with a desire to make positive impacts on our business.
  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles with 1 + years of direct corporate finance related analyst experience is highly desirable.
  • VBA skills preferred.
  • Experience with systems including Great Plains, DBC FINANCE, INTEGRA-T, or a similar treasury workstation is desirable.
