Forklift Operator – Varied Schedule
Salina, KS and Abilene, KS
Great Plains Mfg has an opening for a Forklift Operator in the Material Handling Department.
This position will temporarily be at the Salina CE1 Facility, for approximately 2 months, but will likely transfer to our Abilene West facility in Abilene, KS as the permanent location.
This position will train on 1st Shift for approximately 2 weeks, then will transition to 2nd Shift for approximately 6 weeks.
- 1st Shift works Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- 2nd Shift works Monday through Thursday, from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
- Both shifts will require some overtime to be worked on Fridays.
- For the first 2 months, you will be based at the CE facility in Salina. After 2 months, you will likely transfer to the Abilene West facility.
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK 1ST OR 2ND SHIFT AND ABLE TO WORK IN SALINA AND ABILENE, KS.
- Provide safe movement of parts to required staging areas or locations
- Ensure correct part identification and delivery to correct location to maintain inventory accuracy
- Conduct preventative maintenance on all equipment used
- Ensure paperwork from vendors is accurate
- Load and unload trucks
- Other duties as assigned, such as driving a truck and working with other departments
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Must have forklift license or ability to obtain one
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Ability to read prints and be able to use tape measure, calipers, etc. as required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Understand team concepts and be a strong team player
- Excel in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
- Ability to use and understand AS400 computer software
- Must be available to work 1st Shift or 2nd Shift. *Any hours worked on 2nd Shift will be paid an additional $2/hour shift differential*
- Must be available to work in both Salina, KS and Abilene, KS
