Overview:
Gas - Cost Analyst- Project Controls

The Cost Analyst-Project Controls will work closely with Project Managers to review project financial status, identify deviations from planned budget, explain variances, and provide advice concerning budget corrections. Requires knowledge and experience of Project Management and Project Control principles and Cycles, understanding of basic project accounting principles, and processes, basic knowledge of cost tools, procedures, and processes required. Proficiency with applicable software cost applications and intermediate proficiency level with Microsoft Office products required.

This is an intermediate position with required basic construction, environmental, or engineering knowledge. Desirable experience on engineering, procurement, and construction projects. Ability to interpret documents for cost, estimating, change management helpful. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities, effectively solve stressful situations, while managing multiple discipline projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with Project Managers, Costs Leads, and Project Controls Manager, expenditures, budgets, commitments, estimate at completion, forecast.
  • Ensure costs reports are issued on time and with accurate data up to date.
  • Properly ensure all costs are accounted during the project life cycle.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to review project financial status, identify deviations from planned budget, and explain variances. Advice concerning budget corrections.
  • Properly ensure cost controls and reporting processes are applicable to track: direct/indirect costs, budgets, and allocations.
  • Track Work Order Authorization Budgets are not overrun.
  • Properly ensure accruals are reported and applied to monthly forecast projections.
  • Recognize historical trends and provide forecasting for projects; monitor and modify cash flow.
  • Properly run SAP reports with all cost data coming out from company financial system (directs/indirect) and identify any deviations in order to correct with the proper stakeholder.
  • Properly read the schedule and understand durations to incorporate in the forecast.
  • Organizing and tracking of documents as they go through the approval process, make sure signed forms are gathered, and saved for auditing purposes.
  • Ensure forecast is revised monthly and is based on consideration of progress, pending change orders, expenditure rates, and earned value factors.
  • Prepare graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status and forecast requirements for management.
  • Ensure current budget is updated according to the change management process with latest approved change orders.
  • Scheduling and attending meetings, as required.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Finance, Civil, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (other engineering disciplines acceptable depending upon qualifications) or related work experience.
  • PMP or any AACE certification preferred/SAP experience preferred.
Experience Level:
  • 3-6 Years’ Experience.
  • Occasional Hybrid days in San Diego Office.
Salary Range: $83K to $124K per year.
