The North Jersey Community Research Initiativeis seeking a full-time Grants Specialist to join the finance and administrative team to provide support and guidance in the preparation, submission, processing, and management of research grants and contract proposals, awards, and agreements throughout the funding life-cycle. The candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigators (PIs) and Project Directors and will report directly to the Grant Manager. The Grants Specialist will work with PIs and Project Directors to develop budgets and supporting materials for all grant awards, and review project funds. S/he will perform additional duties to support research projects and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures. - Coordinate grant submission process with PIs; is aware of internal and external deadlines for various funding opportunities
- Work closely with PIs on all aspects of the grant application process, including assisting with pre-award budget development, gathering supplemental materials, and coordinating with sub-contract sites
- Work with the Grants and Contracts Office to ensure that grants and contracts applications are in full compliance with regulations of all sponsors, as well as with internal GCO policies. Stay up-to-date on all policy changes
- Assist PIs with NIH Just-in-Time requests for all other granting agencies
- Ensure appropriate approvals are in place for human subjects and animal work; monitor as appropriate through award life cycle
- Assist with project set-up once funding is received
- Monitor and analyze grant activity and project expenditures, including monthly reconciliation of ledgers and projection updates, and recommend action as necessary; work with Sponsored Projects Finance to resolve accounting issues as needed
- Review financial reports for submission to sponsors
- Process financial transactions, such as purchase orders and fund transfers, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree; Finance or Accounting preferred
- Experience with Federal grants, foundation grants, industry grants
- Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Access, and Word and have an understanding of accounting basics.
- Familiarity with Federal and State policies and procedures regarding sponsored awards preferred.
- Familiarity with the Agencies personnel and fiscal management policies, and the Agencies financial system applications such as Financial Edge and FE NXT is desirable.
- Experience with budget preparation and expense analysis is essential.

Because we specialize in Infectious Diseases, you may be called upon by the agency to assist with COVID 19 prevention-related task and any other new infectious disease outbreak.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
